This is an 8-week course covering soft slab construction, pinch pots, combination coil/slab pots, lidded containers, and hard slab construction. We will also cover underglaze slip decoration and glazing techniques.

In this class we will learn:

-How to use a paper pattern to make a soft slab pot that can be a vase, pitcher or stein.

-How to make pinch pots and how to combine them to make more complicated pieces.

-How to make coils/slab combination pieces, how coils can be decorative as well as structural.

-How to make lidded containers, demonstrating different lid/seat and “locking” solutions.

-How to make a piece with hard slab construction and use previously taught techniques to decorate the piece.

-How to use underglaze slips for decoration and color development.

-How to effectively glaze lidded pieces and pieces with textural surfaces.

Please Note: Students may work on projects in the studio for the duration of the class (until Nov. 24th) during regular open studio hours.
