Description: This is an intermediate wheel throwing course. There will be a total of 8 classes over a span of 9 weeks. Students need to have some experience with throwing either on their own or have taken previous classes. It is preferred that students have no trouble with centering, or wall pulling. In this class we will cover making taller, evenwalled pieces, adding throwing designs on the side of our pots, and learning how to control the curve/outward swell of your piece. We will also cover bottlenecks, spouts, and learn how to recover a collapsing or spiraling piece with compression. We will go over the use of calipers, pulling handles, as well as the process of reclaim, wedging, wheel trimming, using a giffin grip, and underglazing and glazing techniques. This will be more of a project based class, where we will focus on learning each different technique listed in each class. If desired, bring your own hand towels and aprons.
