In this class we will create a colorful spring flower basket pysanky using the traditional batik dye method on a chicken egg. First you will learn how to pencil divisions and designs on the egg using paper rulers and templates. Then you learn how to use the traditional writing tool, kistka, and melted bees wax to write on the eggs. The eggs will alternate being dipped in dye and written on with wax to create a multicolored design. Once waxing and dying are complete, the wax will be melted off to reveal the design. Lastly, the egg will be finished with a light coating of Vaseline, and you will be able to take your finished egg with you. All supplies will be provided for this class.
